Jonna Carter grew up in Berkeley, California where she raised several glorious generations of pet rats and adventured on nature trails with her super brave pups. She studied writing at Sarah Lawrence College and later received an MFA in Fiction from San Francisco State University. She is the author of Stitchcraft, a middle grade fantasy novel, and Home Sweet Baby, a picture book about home birth for big siblings. For the past twenty-ish years she’s been writing children’s stories, poems and plays for Folkmanis Puppets, several of which have been lauded by the Parents’ Choice Awards. She was honored to receive second place in the 2020 Lorain Hemingway Short Story Contest and her work has appeared in Transfer literary magazine and The Saranac Review.
Jonna loves brand new socks, nerdy boardgames and fancies herself an amateur canoeist, iced-matcha freak, novice handicrafter and plant-based cookie connoisseur. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, two kids, dog and five chickens.
